Fried Contemporary

The Fried Contemporary was created in 2005 and has earned itself a reputation as being one of the best contemporary galleries in Gauteng. The gallery is situated in Pretoria, more specifically in the area of Brooklyn. 

Fried Contemporary gives opportunities to well known artists in the country as well as the up and coming artists. 

The gallery itself is divided into three seperate rooms that showcases various art work in each room on a monthly basis

34 Fine Art Gallery 

The 34 Fine Art Gallery was established in 1999 in Cape Town. The gallery has moved around the city but since 2010 has settled into it's new location in Woodstock which is quickly becoming one of Cape Town's trendiest areas.

As its name suggest, this gallery focuses its spotlight on fine art and attracts avid art collectors from around the country and the world. 

The gallery showcases a variety of artists from established local artists to up and coming artists as well as well-known international artists.

KZNSA Gallery 

The KZNSA Gallery was set up over 100 years ago making it one of the oldest art galleries in South Africa. It was initially set up as a place for aritsts to meet and discuss ideas as well as share ideas amongst each other. 

Nowadays the KZNSA gallery is Durban's best contemporary art galleries by showcasing South Africa's best artists as well as well-known international artists. The gallery also offers classes and boasts in incredible cinema.

Gallery MOMO 

Gallery MOMO was established in 2003 and since then it has been one of the most popular contemporary art galleries in Joburg. 

The gallery showcases some of South Africa's best up and coming artists but it also gives up and coming international artists a space to exhibit their work. Whatiftheworld

Whatiftheworld is a Cape Tonian based art gallery based in Woodstock which has quickly become a hotspot for artists and creatives alike. 

The gallery gives new as well as up-and coming artists the opportunity to exhibit their work. The Whatiftheworld gallery has been known to catapult the careers of some now famous artists in South Africa.

In 2007 the gallery was voted in the best 50 up and coming contemporary galleries in the world by a top art magazine from the UK

AVA (Association for the Visual Arts)

AVA was established in 1970 and has been based in Cape Town ever since. The gallery is and has been well known as a platform for artists to reflect South Africa's deep history as well as the socio-political changes that the country has experienced. THe gallery also reflects South African culture in art form. This is due to the fact that the organisation (after having undergone a name change) was one of the first art bodies to be formed in the country in the the late 1800's. 

The gallery is a non-profit organisation that gives a platform to up and coming artists to showcase their work and get their name out into the world. AVA is not bound to one type of art but instead encompases all types such as fine art, contemporary art, photography and much more.

Knysna Fine Art Gallery

This gallery is situated in the picturesque seaside town of Knysna in the heart of the garden route. The Garden route has become a hotspot for international tourists as well as holiday makers. 

For this reason the gallery showcases both Local South African artists as well as International. The gallery is not bound to one type of art but rather features a melting pot of different kinds such as sculptures, photography, painting and ceramic work.

Stevenson Gallery 

The Stevenson Gallery was established in 2009 and features two amazing galleries in both Joburg and Cape Town. 

This gallery focuses mainly on local artists (both well-known and up and coming artists) however, the Stevenson gallery has been known to exhibit and bring down established international artists at their bigger events.
